Mark Watkins

Emmy Award winning meteorologist Mark Watkins brings you the Carolinas weather each weekday morning from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. on "Eyewitness News Daybreak." He is also a member of Channel 9's "Eyewitness News Midday" news team.

Growing up in Georgia, Mark comes from a broadcasting family. He began his career in radio in 1969 and his first television job was in Bismarck, North Dakota. He also worked in Chicago, San Francisco, and San Jose.

Mark first attended the University of Georgia and later received a B.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University in Illinois. He also received a B.S. degree with Great Distinction in Meteorology from San Jose State University in California. Mark has earned the Seal of Approval of the American Meteorological Society in recognition of the quality of his television weather broadcasts.

Mark's hobbies include reading, cycling and playing golf. He and his wife, Nancy, their daughter, Clair, and son, Jackson, reside in Charlotte. Although Mark's previous endeavors in education and employment have taken him across the country, he is glad to be back in the South which he considers "home".

    SNOW SHOWERS TONIGHT IN THE MOUNTAINS

    Today: Mostly sunny skies and a bit warmer thanks to a southerly wind. Highs in the lower to mid 50s. 1-2" of snow in higher elevations tonight in the mountains.
    Friday: Another arctic blast: highs in the 40s under sunny skies, and it'll be windy.
    Saturday: Plenty of sunshine but a major lack of warmth. Highs in the 40s.
    Sunday: Mostly sunny with highs in the low 50s.
    Monday: Mostly cloudy with a slight chance for showers. Highs in the mid 50s.
