Two Carolina favorites open CMAs ‘with a little love and some tenderness'

Two of the Carolinas favorite sons, country music stars Eric Church and Darius Rucker, kicked off the 51st annual Country Music Association awards show with a performance that would be one of the night’s most memorable.

Church began with a somber, a capella version of the hymn "Amazing Grace." But after only one verse, Rucker, joined by Keith Urban, took center stage to perform a moving version of his former band Hootie and the Blowfish’s hit, “Hold My Hand.”

Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire and many more of country music’s biggest stars joined in on the country-rock classic.
