Inside Look: NASCAR race shops and attractions

Updated:

The Carolinas are rich in racing heritage. In fact, NASCAR ran its first ‘strictly stock’ race in 1949 at a dirt track located just a few miles outside of what is now known as Uptown Charlotte.

Fast forward 65 years later and the NASCAR Hall of Fame is now one of Uptown’s most recognizable buildings and nearly 90 percent of all NASCAR teams are located in the Charlotte area in towns like Mooresville, Kannapolis, Concord and Harrisburg.

Most team race shops are open to the public and feature museums, gift shops and sometimes the opportunity to see your favorite team’s crew at work!

Many of these shops and museums also offer special extended hours during Charlotte race weeks in May and October.

We’ve compiled a list of high-octane attractions race fans should be sure to check out.  Visit each location’s website as well for the most up-to-date information.
